These trees were cut down by axes and saws, then allowed to dry for up to two years before they were floated down rivers to be milled. Inevitably, some of them were lost in transit, sinking to the silty river bottoms where they have rested for centuries.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"\u003e\n\u003cdiv dir=\"auto\"\u003eNow referred to as \"Sunken Cypress\" (or Sinker Cypress), these trees are being recovered and brought to new life! Divers locate these sunken treasures, use cables to attach them to winches, and pull them from the rivers. Because it's old-growth wood, it has a tighter grain and is much more dense.
